Relative Dimensions Days 10-11
Caught up for real now! Today I started on the second establishing shot, which I had kind of forgotten was in there at all.
It was not a pretty sight when I opened the PSD file last night.
I had originally done this comp back in January or so- I don't know if I had just done it real quick-like and was planning on cleaning it up later or what? Was I just really that bad at it? Anyway. I messed around with it for about 3 hours and that is kind of absurdly long to spend just getting the underdrawing down but I think I learned a fair bit in the process. I'm going to need to get much faster at all of this, though, if I want to finish this project some time this decade...
Here is where it stands now. I'm still figuring out how I want to handle the background. I'd really ideally like to not have the backgrounds all totally lined in- but honestly I'm not sure how to go about figuring out all the clutter and architecture and perspective in this shot without drawing it in more detail first. I'm a little apprehensive that I'm spending so much time on each illustration thus far, but I'm trying to keep in mind that these first dozen are so are probably going to be a learning process and things should go much faster once I get it down. Speed should come with ease and confidence which should come with time and practice.
Oh, I also did a study earlier today. Yep. And I painted this bird, too, when I first got up. Oh man I haven't had a chance to use acrylics since I took a class in it in the fall. Gosh, time, where have you gone?
Reaaalllly hoping to finish this illustration tomorrow but we'll see how it goes. I'll have like 6 hours to work on it- that should be enough, right? Right?
